As VP of Commercial Services, John McFarlin oversees all commercial activity for the company including leases, mergers and acquisitions, and sales.
McFarlin has more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience, having represented commercial clients in liquidations and investment opportunities as a sales associate, general manager and owner of a local commercial company which, under his leadership, was among the Top 15 commercial brokerages in the franchise globally for nine consecutive years. His extensive experience in public speaking and as an author further enhances his ability to provide positive direction and leadership for accelerated individual and company performances along with a superior education and training model.

Prior to joining BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY, COMMERCIAL DIVISION, McFarlin was the National Director of a large national firm responsible for the inception and implementation of the company’s Business Model. In that role, McFarlin worked in conjunction with the senior management teams across a family of companies to ensure a consistent marketing image and uniform business practice standards to provide service continuity for commercial clients on a nationwide basis. In 2014 his efforts were honored with the company’s most prestigious award.
McFarlin was also responsible for establishing new commercial operations to compliment markets with an established residential real estate presence, implementing a more robust national presence. He also designed a commercial referral program, which leveraged the depth and breadth of the residential real estate organization to benefit commercial sales associates and clients.
A native of West Virginia, McFarlin holds an active broker’s license in Texas and Florida; earned a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Wesleyan, and a master’s degree from Northeastern Oklahoma University, where he also coached football and was an instructor.
McFarlin also continued his post-graduate work at the University of Arkansas. John and his wife, Ginny, live in Spring, Texas, and have two children John II and Jennifer, along with two grandchildren Henry Garrett and Josephine Grace.
